A Blog Announcement...Or Two

Hello readers!

There isn't a post today but I do have a blog announcement that has been a long time coming, I think. I'm sure a lot of you think that this announcement has to do with the end of the blog and, in a way, you're right...

This is the End

And on that cheery last post, Modern Day Faith is officially over forever.
Thanks for reading!

The Truth Will Out

A word from the author: A few updates before this post, and a warning.

I've started getting responses for the survey (and hey, if you haven't taken it yet, please do so by clicking here, it's fast and easy and I'd really appreciate it if you could fill it out) and you guys have given me some GREAT feedback. So here are some changes I'm going to implement, so far (more changes will probably be coming but those have to do with story line and characters so those won't be immediate and other changes that will really come only when we're caught up with real time):

  • I will be introducing a character page for the sidebar. It will have every character that has appeared on the blog in alphabetical order with descriptions and summaries of how they relate to Faith. A lot of you mentioned that it was hard to remember who was who so I'm going to work on making that and will let you all know when it's complete. It may take me awhile because there are A LOT of characters.
  • Almost everyone mentioned the problem with not being on real time. And I completely agree. So I'm going to make every effort to get back to real time by August of this year, September at the absolute latest. Being back on real time has been my major goal for this year because being able to schedule posts makes things so much easier for me when it comes to posting consistently.
  • You want longer posts more than two times a week. This is fair and I get it, you all love the blog and want more posts to read, but I'll be straight with you, it's not doable for a long period of time for me and trying to force myself to do a three times per week schedule is part of the reason why I'm so behind in time in the first place. It's almost double the amount of writing I would need to do for a two posts per week schedule and that puts a lot more of a strain on me to just write something so I have something to post. That's not how I like to write and you guys want long, high quality posts so that's not something any of you really want, either, because that's not what you're going to get when I realize that I don't have a post for the next day and it's 11:30 at night. So here's what's going to happen: I have some important stuff happening in July but once that's done, I'll start posting three times a week to get us back up to real time. Once school starts up again, we'll have to go to two times a week and I'll try to throw in a bonus post occasionally.
  • I am going to change the posting schedule once school starts up again to being on Mondays and Thursdays. I think that balances things out a little more evenly and it'll be easier for me to have posts written for those days based on my class schedule for the fall. But, the posting schedule, for now, is still Tuesdays and Thursdays. I will make announcements when the schedule changes and put the posting days in the blog's sidebar.

Now for a warning...that sounds so serious, so, um, how about I'm giving you all a heads up: We're about to start a very rocky roller coaster ride for Faith. Many of you are going to absolutely hate it (based on the survey comments) but I promise that if you stick around for it the Faith you all fell in love with will be back by the time we get up to real time and things will be VERY different from where we've been for the past year and a half. As readers, you don't get the luxury to see how the road ends like I do, but please trust me when I say that, even though this will be a very frustrating few months for you and Faith, it is completely and entirely necessary for Faith's development as a character. I've been planning this story line out since I started the blog and it's exciting (and sort of scary) to finally have it written out and ready for your eyes. I hope you enjoy reading it (even if you don't like everything that's about to happen).

Happy Reading!

Author's Note

Modern Day Faith will be returning on Monday to its regular schedule (a post every M, W, F). I apologize for not posting as much as I wanted to, but finals were pretty difficult this semester and I really needed to focus on them.

I'm healing okay from my wisdom teeth surgery from Friday and have started catching up on Faith! I think you'll all really love what I have planned! (Or you'll love to hate it!)

Author's Note

Hello readers!
I'm doing okay but I have finals coming up and a lot of schoolwork has piled on top of me. I'm not going to stop posting temporarily again because you've all been so wonderful and patient and supportive but the schedule is going to be put on hiatus. Instead, I'm just going to post when I can, rather than every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I'll try to have at least one post a week until my finals are over and I recover from my surgery on the 16th (it's not a big deal, just wisdom teeth getting yanked).

Thanks for your patience and understanding; I know this is annoying. I figured this was the best way to compromise your love of the blog and my real life responsibilities without putting the blog on hiatus again.

Author's Note

Hello readers,

Don't worry, I'm not postponing posting.

I wanted to see if anyone was good at website design. I want to vamp up Faith's blog but I am woefully ignorant on how to design for Blogspot past what it looks like now.

Are any of you interested in designing a look for this site? I will give you credit and probably link to your blog, if you have one and want it on here.

If you're interested, you can send me an e-mail at: moderndayfaith at gmail dot com
Only just put in the dots and the @ sign.

Author's Note

I'm going to need to go on a hiatus for a little bit. Someone I treasured very much has passed away and the passion for writing is just not there for me right now. I'm sorry if this causes any of you wonderful people to stop reading this blog but forcing myself to write would feel like punishment and I don't want my blog to become a punishment for me because there would be no faster way for me to want to stop writing entirely than making it feel like a punishment. So, in order to stop myself from ending the blog permanently, I need to go on hiatus.

I don't know how long the blog will be on hiatus but if I feel the urge to write about Faith as an escape from my grief; I'll post it on here, I'm just not sure when I'll be ready to write on the Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule while trying to deal with the grieving process and trying to move at the same time.

One Year Anniversary- Extremely Important Author's note

Hello friends!

One year ago today I wrote my first Modern Day Faith blog post. As some of you may know, this project started because of a school assignment for a fiction class I was in. I decided to continue writing after the class ended and it's kind of taken off. I love writing this blog but I never thought I'd be writing it a year later and in hindsight I'm going to have to make an extremely weird change to the blog.

When I started writing Modern Day Faith I made Faith 24 because it seemed like a fitting age for her and her group of friends, but now that I've been writing for this long, I feel uncomfortable writing someone who is 25 because I can't really grasp the idea of a mid-twenties woman (I was 21 when I started this blog and I just turned 22...so I'm not even half-way to being in my mid-twenties and it just seems really forced to try and write a 25 year old). So I'm making Faith's age stay 24 instead of aging her up a year, the same goes for her friends. This won't change the timeline or events of the blog and everyone else's ages are staying the same but it will be really awkward when I bring up birthdays considering there was no mention of them whatsoever last year. I'm really sorry for this hiccup in the blog and I hope it doesn't bother anyone too much, it was the easiest way for me to address this issue. For the record:

Faith is 23- Birthday is November 4th (she will be turning 24 this Nov. 4th)
Anna is 24-Birthday is June 12th (she turned 24 this past June)
Zoey is 23- Birthday is October 29th (she will be turning 24 this month)
Elise is 24- Birthday is April 15th (she turned 24 this past April)
Sean is 28- Birthday is February 3rd (he turned 28 this past February)
Theo is 28- Birthday is August 9th (he turned 28 this past August)

I'm going to change the blog description to reflect her age but I didn't want to do it without explanation. So, to be succinct: there were no birthdays addressed in my blog over the past year because I couldn't believe I'd still be writing it in a year, but I am writing it a year later and age needs to be addressed.

One last thing: I'm moving at the end of the month and I'm trying to pack and organize things so blog posts might be off-schedule or non-existent on posting days this month. Once I'm settled in, the blog should be up and running again in which I'll be making yet another announcement. That doesn't mean posting will come to a complete standstill, I will still be trying to post every week but a post might be missing occasionally. I know this is frustrating and I've been trying to write longer, more fulfilling posts to combat this, but I feel you have a right to know why a post might not show up occasionally from now until November and I hope you'll still want to read the blog. Faith's story is about to heat up and I think you'll enjoy the stuff that's going to happen, so I hope you'll still stick with this blog (some of you have been reading for a whole YEAR. WOW!).

Thank you for reading and commenting on this blog. You guys make this worthwhile for me and I really hope you're enjoying it. Feel free to leave suggestions, constructive criticism, or theories about what is going to happen in the comments.

(There will not be a post tomorrow (Friday) because I want to make sure all of my readers see this to avoid confusion before I continue on with Faith and her life)

UPDATE: The "big" announcement that I mentioned in my last author's post is the birthday issue I mentioned. The other announcement doesn't affect Faith's story at all and it's not a big deal, I promise, but I can't announce it yet since it's not entirely set in stone and I don't want to jump the gun or jinx it.

Author's Note

Hello friends!

I've been in the process of travelling as well as having a very busy week so I haven't had time to write at all. I think the next post will be up on Friday, but it's possible that there will be one sooner than that. We should regain the regular Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule next week. Also, I'll be making an announcement pretty soon that will affect the storyline of this blog. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up because the next Author's Note is going to be really important and you'll all definitely want to make sure to read it (no, the blog is not ending).

UPDATE:
No post today. I've been fighting off the flu since I got back from my trip. Sorry.

Author's Note

Hello Friends!
I'm having a bit of writer's block right now, so, unfortunately, I'm going to have to postpone posting for the rest of this week. Posts should start back up again on Monday, but like I said, I'm having some writer's block and I don't know how long it will last (although I don't think it's going to last a long time, I have ideas, I'm just having a hard time actually writing it down the way I want it). I'll keep everyone posted on my progress if it looks like I won't have a post for Monday.

I want my posts to be of high quality and the ones I have currently written up for this week are, frankly, awful, which is why I'm going to take a step back from writing for a few days and try to gain a better perspective on what I want Faith's storyline to be. Faith will be back, though, so don't worry!

Author's Note

Hello friends!

I hope everyone had a happy Memorial Day and is ready for summer! I've been trying to make my posts longer and post them with more frequency as many of you have requested so I just wanted to check in with my readers to see if there are any other suggestions for improvement to the blog. Are there any characters you'd like to see more of or hear more from, any types of situations you prefer to read about over others, that kind of stuff. Feel free to leave your answers in the comments and thanks for reading!

Author's Note

Hey friends!

I've been trying to post more often but I wanted to give my readers a heads up. I'm about to go into finals for my last semester in college and the work has been piling up. I just wanted to let you guys know that if the posts start to seem to die off it's not because I stopped caring about the posting frequency, it's because my real life got in the way. I'll be trying to post during this week but I make no promises. During my actual finals week (which is next week) I'll have plenty of time to write up posts in between my finals.

Tech + Midterms= No posts

Hey guys,

I'm in tech for a show right now, I'm not sure if I'll be able to write some stuff during performances or not, but definitely no time this week. I'm in tech and midterms....because that's just how life goes for me, I guess. I'll try to write once the show goes up in performance, but if not, check back in the beginning of March and I'll start up writing around then.

New Post Coming Later Today

Hey Guys,

I forgot what day it was, but I'm writing the next post today and will post it immediately after I finish, I'm anticipating there also being a Friday and Sunday post this week as well....possibly a Saturdayone. Also, part of the reason I lost track is because my brother is going to be deployed to Afghanistan this June and I've been dealing with that whole issue.

Author's Note- Posting Schedule

Sorry about the lack of posts guys. I'm going to try and start a posting schedule next week. I'm starting school up again and it's going to be a super busy semester but I'll try to follow the schedule as closely as possible. This week is my first week of school so I'm probably not going to have time to write anything. (I combined the three posts I lost into the previous post) I will be posting over the weekend to get everything caught up and then post on Tuesdays and Fridays (and maybe a bonus post on Thursdays). If I find that the schedule is too much I might have to reduce or change it. Thanks for reading! There's going to be tons of fun coming into Faith's story soon and I hope you guys are enjoying the blog.

As always, feel free to comment, usually the comments help me decide the direction of the blog so the more comments the better!

See you guys next week!

Author's Note

Hey friends!

Sorry about the lack of updates lately. I'm in college and about to go into finals week so I've been attacking a stack of papers and final assignments amidst Thanksgiving comas and a head cold. I promise that once next week comes around I'll post again.

Also, this blog was originally created for one of my classes this semester as an assignment and at the beginning I wasn't sure that I was going to continue it after my class ended, but I think I've decided to continue it. I enjoy writing and this will be a good outlet for me.

Again, I apologize whole-heartedly for the delay in posts and hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and soon to be Holiday season.
